Cook Fence Restoration

The fence forms a dodecagon (twelve sides). The five left sections are identical to the five right sections. The sixth (back) section, opposite the entrance bollards, is a singleton.

The fence was restored in 2014. The Friends of the Old Burying Ground raised $70,000 and the Town provided $20,000. Before restoration, five sections (1 and 2 left, 1, 4 and 5 right) were mostly or partially intact. Some additional fragments were in storage. All pieces were inventoried in early 2013 and a restoration plan was made. Existing fragments were welded together and missing sections replaced in late 2013 and early 2014.
